SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - A judge has sentenced a former Puerto Rico senator to four years in prison for bribery.

Hector Martinez also faces a $17,500 fine and three years of supervised release.

Federal prosecutors who won last year's conviction had sought a sentence of at least 15 years.

Businessman Juan Bravo also was found guilty of conspiracy, bribery and interstate travel in aid of racketeering. Judge Francisco Besosa sentenced him to four years and fined him $175,000.

Attorneys for both men say they will appeal Thursday's federal court sentence.

Martinez had accepted a 2005 trip to Las Vegas to see a boxing match from Bravo, whose security companies allegedly benefitted from bills Martinez submitted.
