Construction work has wrapped up on a new $30-million exercise and health research complex in Aurora.
Officials this week opened the doors to the new Colorado Center for Health and Wellness building, located one block east of Montview Boulevard and Peoria Street. The 95,000-square-foot building offers up a wide variety of health and wellness features, including a large workout area, a demonstration kitchen, an aquatic center and a human performance lab, among other things.
The five-story facility, which was designed by Phoenix-based architectural firm Cannon Design, is the brainchild of Dr. James Hill, executive director of the Colorado Center for Health and Wellness.
Researchers and clinicians will use the health and wellness center to promote healthy lifestyles and study certain chronic diseases, such as diabetes. The facility is available to university students and faculty, as well as staffers at University of Colorado Hospital and Children's Hospital Colorado.
Members of the community will be able to gain access, at least initially, through participation in research studies and clinical programs.
