• The Salvation Army needs donations of turkeys, pies and potatoes for its traditional Thanksgiving Day meal, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 22.

    • Volunteers also are welcome to come and help that day, starting at 6 a.m. or on other days to help prepare for the holiday.

  • Sacred Heart Catholic Church will have its 24th annual Complimentary Thanksgiving Meal from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 22 in the gym, 231 Father Rahm St. The church expects to feed about 2,700 people.

    • Donations needed: turkeys, cubed stuffing, black olives, green olives, butter, corn, potatoes, celery, apples, pecans, raisins, onions, cakes, pies, fresh milk, condensed or evaporated milk, black pepper, cranberry sauce, coffee, sugar, creamers and bread.

    Nonfood items needed: plates, cups, cutlery, aprons, table covers, trash bags, dishwashing liquid and bleach.
    Volunteers are needed: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for prep work, cooking and decorating, and from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 22 for cooking, serving and cleanup.
