Federal agents arrested a Nevada man at the Paso Del Norte bridge on Wednesday after he allegedly tried to smuggle two loaded handguns and 86 rounds of ammunition into Mexico.

Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents conducting inspections at the port of entry arrested Jose Luis Arroyo, 37, of Las Vegas, after finding the guns and ammunition during a search.

Officials said Arroyo was crossing from the U.S. into Mexico via the pedestrian area of the bridge about 8 a.m. Wednesday when officials noticed he was allegedly acting suspiciously and evasive during routine questioning, and was unwilling to remove his hands from his jacket pockets. As a customs officer prepared to search Arroyo, he allegedly told the officer he was holding a gun.
