Update, 7 p.m.: El Paso police said a woman was hospitalized with serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision this afternoon in West El Paso.

A car and a pickup collided after one of the vehicles ran a stop sign at about 3:30 p.m. at North Resler and Northern Pass Drive, Detective Mike Baranyay said. There were two people in each vehicle and three were taken to hospitals.

Baranyay said a woman in the car was taken to University Medical Center with injuries that were potentially life threatening.

The intersection is expected to be blocked off for another two to three hours while the Special Traffic Investigations Unit investigates the accident, Baranyay said.

Original: El Paso police are investigating a serious traffic crash on the West Side this afternoon.

The accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. At North Resler and Northern Pass Drive. Police have blocked off the street.

The Special Traffic Investigations Unit, which handles serious and fatal accidents, has been dispatched to the scene.
