GREENWOOD VILLAGE — A SWAT team has surrounded a Greenwood Village apartment where they are seeking a "person of interest" in the Thursday morning shooting of a woman a block away.
Using a megaphone, police said they are trying to summon Robert Lewis from Apartment 107 of the Carriage Place Apartments at 4900 S. Ulster St. That's about a block away from the Promenade Place Apartments at 5200 S. Ulster, where a woman was found shot to death on a ramp between the third and fourth levels of the parking garage about 7:20 a.m.
A 911 call was first made at 7:12 a.m. The caller did not say anything and police were attempting to determine where the call had come from when a "shots fired" call was made, Greenwood Village Spokeswoman Crystal Dean said.
Police found a woman in her 20s between two cars and attempted to resuscitate her, she said.
The woman was later pronounced dead at the scene, Dean said. She had at least two gunshot wounds.
Police found evidence of a struggle at the shooting site, she said.
The parking garage where the woman was found was only for people who lived in the apartments, Dean said.
Witnesses told police they saw a Jeep Cherokee leaving the apartments around the time of the shooting. The Jeep was later discovered at the Belleview RTD bus station.
Police interviewed the owner of the Jeep and he is not a suspect, Dean said.
