El Paso police have arrested a 22-year-old man featured as one of this week's Manhunt Monday fugitives.
Arturo Ornelas was arrested Thursday on suspicion of injury to a child. Law enforcement officials alleged that on April 20, Ornelas burned his 2-year-old daughter with a hot iron.
He had been expected to surrender to authorities last week but changed his mind.
He has been booked into the El Paso County Jail, his bond set at $50,000.
Ornelas is married to Yara Belen Perez, 31, who is the girl's mother and who was convicted last year of capital murder in the beating death of her 3-year-old daughter, Jacqueline Gonzalez, in 2007.
Jacqueline's body was found in the trunk of Perez's car, which was parked outside of the apartment Perez shared with her then-boyfriend, Francisco Castañeda.
Castañeda also was convicted in 2010 of capital murder in the girl's death. Both Perez and Castañeda were sentenced to life in prison without parole.
During Perez's trial, Ornelas testified he and Perez met while Ornelas worked as a baker at a Northeast El Paso supermarket, and Perez worked for a food distribution company.
The couple married in December 2011.
Ornelas' arrest is the 155th arrest for the Manhunt Monday fugitive search program.
