Denver SWAT teams have ended a standoff with a barricaded man near 28th and Larimer streets.

Denver Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said the incident began just after 8 p.m. when a man was reportedly attempting to break into a vehicle.

Police responded and when they tried to contact the suspect, the man ran into a house.

The owner of the house ran outside, and police believe the suspect was alone in the house.

Police arrested the suspect just before 10:30 p.m.

Mark Watson, a spokesman for Denver Fire Department, said they responded to the home after police saw light smoke coming from the home.

Firefighters saw no flames, but were standing by.

After police apprehended the suspect, firefighters entered the home and found a stove fire that had not spread to the home, Watson said.
