Nine people will not be able to return to their Aurora apartments tonight after an afternoon blaze damaged one apartment in a four-story complex, officials say.
No one was injured and the fire did not spread to adjacent apartments, said Capt. Allen Robnett, Aurora fire spokesman. There was significant smoke damage.
The American Red Cross is helping to find lodging for the residents of the apartments at East 15th Avenue and Oakland Street, Robnett said.
The two-alarm fire broke out at about 12:40 p.m. and was quickly extinguished, he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
