Font ResizeNonprofit website Education News Colorado said Monday it has joined with New York City-based GothamSchools to form the Education News Network.
Alan Gottlieb, the founder of EdNews Colorado, will be the publisher of ENN. He said EdNews will remain a locally based Colorado education news website, but has cut its ties with the Public Education and Business Coalition, a Denver-based education non-profit.
ENN will temporarily be under the umbrella of the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center, while it awaits IRS approval of its stand-alone nonprofit status.
Gottlieb said ENN wants to expand to other cities and states over the next three to five years and is looking at Memphis, Houston and Indianapolis, where it would create startups.
EdNews also announced Monday that it has hired a new managing editor, Maura Walz, who previously was at Georgia Public Broadcasting's Southern Education Desk.
