Rapids technical director Paul Bravo, the head of soccer operations for the Major League Soccer team, will have his contract extended for three more years, a team source confirmed Tuesday.
Club president Tim Hinchey earlier in the day told Class VI, one of the Rapids' support groups, that the team "just renewed him" and will make an official announcement soon.
"He has a fantastic pedigree in our league," Hinchey said.
Bravo returned this year, despite the Rapids' dismissals of managing director Jeff Plush (Bravo's former boss) and coach Gary Smith after last season.
Bravo directed the hiring of Oscar Pareja as the Rapids' new coach. The Rapids on Tuesday also made official the coaching staff under Pareja, naming former U.S. under-17 national team boss Wilmer Cabrera an assistant coach.
The Rapids had been close to hiring Cabrera for weeks, but MLS paperwork held up officially adding him to the coaching staff. Cabrera is a former Colombian national team player and a veteran of two World Cups (1990 and 1998).
The Rapids also hired assistant coach Paul Caffrey, Cabrera's assistant with the U.S. under-17 national team. They will retain David Kramer for a fifth season as goalkeepers coach. Nick Groke, The Denver Post
