Colorado's warm spell has a solid chance to leave its mark on the record book three times this week.
The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 76 degrees Friday, which would eclipse the record high of 74 degrees for March 16, which was set in 1966 and tied just last year.
On Saturday, the forecast calls for a high of 78 degrees. The record of 75 was set in 1974.
On Tuesday, Denver's 74-degree high tied a record for the date set in 2007.
The high in Denver today was 71 degrees, 4 degrees short of the record for the date recorded in 1877, according to National Weather Service data.
Sunday, the city falls out of record contention.
Forecasters expect a high of 69, still 14 degrees warmer than the 30-year-average of 55 degrees for the date.
The highs fall below average to 51 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday , according to the forecast.
There is a slight chance or rain Monday and a chance of rain or snow Tuesday night.
The extended outlook predicts dry, above-normal temperatures are expected the next Sunday, "then cool down quite a bit Monday through Thursday," the first week of April.
March is normally Denver's snowiest month, but so far this year only a trace has been record, on March 7.
The northern and central mountains are likely to get snow Sunday night and Monday, after highs in the 50s Friday and Saturday, forecasters said.
