For the second year in a row, Viva Colorado has won an EPPY Award for Best Spanish-Language Newspaper Website. This national award, which is presented by Editor & Publisher, recognizes the best media-affiliated websites in a range of categories.
This year VivaColorado.com competed and won first place in the category "Best Spanish-Language Newspaper Website with under 1 million unique monthly visitors," a greater challenge over last year's cutoff of 250,000 unique monthly visitors.
In its fifth year, Viva Colorado has reached many milestones including a second EPPY Award and three Best of the West Awards. In June, the bilingual print publication began free home delivery.
Viva Colorado is published by The Denver Post, which won four 2012 EPPY Awards from Editor & Publisher for Best Crowd Sourcing/Citizen Journalism, Best Business Blog, Best Entertainment Blog and Best Sports Blog.
A panel of people in the media industry, chosen by the staff of Editor & Publisher, judged the entries from Sept. 20 to Oct.18, 2012. The winners were announced on Oct. 30.
Since its creation in 2006, Viva Colorado has strived to provide a gathering place for anyone who wants to be part of the Latino community in Colorado, no matter their language or country of origin.
The publication is produced by a diverse group of bilingual award-winning journalists who are part of the communities represented in the stories written and published by Viva Colorado.
