Lakewood police have arrested a man they say committed an armed robbery of a supplemental pill store.
Adam James Wainwright, 35, allegedly robbed the Supplement Giant store at 98 Wadsworth Blvd. on Saturday, according to a Lakewood police news release.
Wainwright pretended to shop and then pulled a handgun on the clerk and took money, after which he forced the clerk into the back room of the store and left, police said.
Less than 30 minutes later, an officer investigating the crime noticed a man fitting Wainwright's description in the immediate area, but in different clothing, the release states.
Police made contact with that man and found items on his person linking him to the crime, police said.
After the robbery, police said Wainwright bought clothes from the store next door to change into.
Wainwright is being held at the Jefferson County jail on charges of aggravated robbery and second-degree kidnapping. He also had a warrant for his arrest for a theft case out of California, police said.
