A woman was fatally shot in the parking lot of an Aurora residential complex after witnesses reporting hearing an argument between a man and a woman.

The incident happened at about 1:25 a.m. in the 10700 block of E. Exposition Avenue, according to an Aurora Police Department media release.

"Witnesses reported hearing a male and female arguing near the parking lot just prior to shots being fired," police said. " When officers arrived, they found a female lying in the parking lot, suffering from what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound."

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Two men and a woman have been "detained" in relation to the incident.

"Police are not looking for any other suspects at this time," the release said.

The name of the victim and the names of the people detained were not released.
