The nice weather in the Denver metro area is here to stay awhile, including a chance for record high temperatures by midweek, according to the National Weather Service.
The average high temperature in Denver for each day through next Sunday is 44 degrees, but forecasters expect the temperatures to climb from the mid 50s on Monday to the upper 60s by Wednesday during a week of sunny skies.
The forecast high for Wednesday is 67 degrees, just two degrees short of the record high for the date set in 1981.
Thursday and Friday are expected to be in the upper 40s in Denver, then temperatures should climb back to the mid-50s on Saturday and the lower 60s next Sunday, the last day of Denver's partially outdoors National Western Stock Show & Rodeo.
Western Colorado also is expected to have sunny skies all week, with highs in the 20s in Steamboat Springs and the 30s and low 40s in Aspen and Durango, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.
As of Sunday afternoon, there was no forecast for snow in the state this week. That is bad news for Colorado's lagging snowpack, which was 62 percent of its 30-year average as of Thursday, according to the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Lakewood.
