The luncheon -- held in stately Statuary Hall at the Capitol -- is perhaps the toughest ticket in Washington. About 200 guests joined the Obamas for the luncheon, which includes speeches, gift presentations and toasts. The luncheon has taken place in its current form since 1953.
Obama sat at the head table between his wife and Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York.
The Obamas shared lunch with members of Congress, Cabinet officers and other VIPs, including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. The menu included steamed lobster with New England clam chowder, grilled bison with red potato horseradish cake and apple pie and ice cream.
