Denver Police Chief Robert White has told the department's six district commanders that they must reapply for their jobs and that a panel made up of City Council members or their representatives will decide if they keep them or are replaced.
"We will be interviewing and looking at the current commanders and potential" replacements, said City Councilman Paul Lopez, chairman of the council's committee on public safety.
White is scheduled to appear before the committee at 1:30 p.m. today to announce the changes.
He will also announce the replacement of two Deputy Chiefs, John Lamb and Michael Battista, said a police source. Division Chief of Patrol David Quinones and William Nagle, acting division chief of research, training and technology will take their place, the source said.
